A student-led nonprofit
YouthCare Initiative is a student-led nonprofit led by teams of high schoolers to create care boxes for pediatric facilities during holiday seasons.
YouthCare Initiative was founded by Zoe Carino, a sophomore from William Tresper Clarke High School (2025). As a cancer survivor and Cohen's Children's Hospital Child Ambassador, she wanted to extend support and kindness to pediatric patients through student-led community action. By creating YouthCare Initiative in her district, she was able to connect students with meaningful volunteer experiences as well as opportunities to bring comfort, creativity, and joy to children receiving medical care.
YouthCare Initiative currently serves 3 pediatric facilities. From this, our volunteers create personalized care boxes for distribution during Thanksgiving, Winter seasons, Valentine's Day, and Children's Day. Our work goes to help Child Life Specialist workers in enhancing inpatient and outpatient stays.
